Credits Are Part of the Film
The transition out of a story deserves attention.
Leaving when the credits begin feels like closing a book before the final page has settled. The music often completes an emotional movement that the last image cannot.
Credits also restore scale. A film that appeared to be made by a handful of recognizable names reveals the long list of craftspeople required to construct it. That list is not an interruption after the work. It is part of the work.
